I enjoy your style! You have several remarkable 'turns of phrase'. I went for the free subscription (no offense) because I am overcoming the tendency to emotionally decide to over extend my commitments of time and money. Perhaps if and when my creativity rewards me with income, I will be able to share the produce with those that I enjoy supporting.

I’ve been a sporadic journaler for years (when I say sporadic, I mean VERY sporadic), but in the last 6 months or so I’ve really picked up the consistency. It is such a healthy practice and has been so good for me to connect with what’s going on inside my heart, and to write down my prayers, big and small. I’m hooked.

Ya it's wild how much a direction change it can be in your life! Stoked you're getting more into it! What's your typical entry like? Do you have a formula that you mostly stick to or is each entry super different?

Right now it’s pretty formulaic. I start out by checking in with myself, just what’s going on in my mind and heart. Then I read some Scripture and journal through what the author is saying. And then I write what I think God is saying to me through that passage. Then finish by journaling so some prayers.

I’ve enjoyed the format, but I might switch it up to be a little more free form soon

Sounds lovely! Good for you bro! I love the combo of trying to understand the intention and contextual meaning is first, and then asking God to color outside the lines. I think either one of those without the other can be a bit empty.

Agreed. It’s been a helpful practice for sure.

Beautiful, achey, thoughtful, thought provoking! Jon this is a really touching piece. Thanks for putting it together. I love learning about such a core memory for you on that surf trip.
